Couple kicks in door, threatens victim with assault

A North Bay man and woman were arrested Saturday after a home invasion on Dane St.

Just after noon on May 25, officers were called after the couple kicked in the door, and then threatened and tried to assault the victim, who escaped to another part of the home and called police. 

The two, along with the third unidentified person, fled the scene in a vehicle before police arrived. 

Officers from the Patrol Section and the Criminal Investigations Section worked together to investigate and two of the accused were later arrested.  The third suspect, a woman, is still unidentified and at large.

Kyle D’Amour-Caruthers, 20, is charged with;

  • Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Utter threats
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Two counts of breach of probation

Raven Lavigne, female, 21-years-old is charged with;

  • Accessory after the fact
  • Break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking

D’Amour-Caruthers was held for a bail hearing, and Lavigne was released on an undertaking with a future court date.

Police are not disclosing the weapons at this time due to the ongoing investigation, but confirmed guns were not involved.
