On December 19 Nipissing West OPP responded to an attempt to lure a child into a vehicle on Cache Bay Road, West Nipissing.
That turns out to be a false alarm say police.
"Police have identified the person of interest in this investigation," says Constable Rob Lewis. "The individual was known to the family and there are no concerns to public safety."
Between 3:15 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., an 11-year-old person was walking home from school, travelling eastbound on the north side of Cache Bay Road, near the hydroelectric dam, when a black sedan stopped and approached the youngster.
"The stranger engaged in a conversation, asking them to enter the vehicle to which they declined. The stranger then left in an eastbound direction, with no harm to the young person," explains Lewis.
The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety, and that of children. Please take time to discuss with your children in detail safety tips regarding the dangers of strangers.
