Attempted murder charges laid after Highway 11 closed Tuesday

OPP say two people are under arrest after this stolen vehicle was linked to other crimes.

Two people were arrested and Highway 11 was closed yesterday (Tuesday) after OPP were called to a traffic accident involving attempted murder suspects.

Just after midnight, Temiskaming OPP were investigating a stolen vehicle on Highway 11 in Harley Township just north of Temiskaming Shores.

The investigation revealed two people committed multiple break, enter and thefts in the surrounding area.

Police later responded to a single-vehicle accident on Highway 11, south of Latchford involving the pair police were searching for. One person was taken into custody at the scene while a second person fled the area on foot, but was arrested a short time later.

OPP also say in a news release that a theft had occurred in Dack Township where an "altercation" took place between a homeowner and the accused couple, resulting in the homeowner being assaulted. The homeowner sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Two Hamilton residents face charges.

Colton Davies, 32, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Aggravated assault
  • Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm

Vanessa Jones, 25, is charged with:

  • Attempt to commit murder
  • Aggravated assault 

Both are being held pending a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 3, in Temiskaming Shores.
