It's good advice to stick to the speed limit if you have a large cargo of illegal goods.
A 69-year-old Thessalon man didn't do that.
OPP charged the driver with speeding and possession of unmarked cigarettes.
On March 14 at 7:55 a.m., the OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 69, Magnetawan First Nation.
The vehicle was travelling at 124 kilometres per hour in a posted 90 zone. During the investigation, police found and seized about 50,000 unmarked cigarettes from the vehicle.
A 69-year-old person who police did not identify is charged with:
- Speeding 1 - 49 Km/h over the posted limit
- Purchase unmarked cigarettes for sale
- Possess unmarked cigarettes
The driver was issued a Provincial Summons and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 15 in Parry Sound.
