OPP North East Region officers laid 139 impaired driving charges during the 2024/25 OPP Festive RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign.
The campaign ran between November 21, 2024, and January 1, 2025. In that time, OPP North East Region officers conducted 1,525 RIDE check events across 12 North East Region detachments, with the following results:
- 139 impaired driving charges.
- 26 warn-range suspensions.
Last year, officers laid 162 impaired charges and 26 warn-range suspensions following 1,699 RIDE check events.
Locally, North Bay OPP laid, 6 charges, Almaguin Highlands13, Temiskaming 15, and West Parry Sound 14.
The Festive RIDE campaign is an annual police enforcement and education initiative aimed at taking impaired drivers off Ontario roads during the holiday season.
