Parker Bowman’s fantastic finish to the 2016-17 season earned him recognition in the QMJHL.

The Voodoos forward who was named the NOJHL playoff MVP as the Powassan squad won its first NOJHL title, has been picked up by the Rimouski Oceanic of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Bowman finished with 20 points (11-9-20) in the playoffs last year leading the Voodoos to 12 straight playoff wins.

“We are thrilled to see Bowman getting this opportunity,” stated Voodoos GM Chris Dawson.

“Parker had a tremendous second half to the season and this is what we are trying to do here is develop hockey players.  It’s good news for Parker Bowman and our organization when our players move up.”

The Voodoos begin the exhibition portion of their season tonight as they travel to Noelville to take on the French River Rapids.

The Voodoos are back home for a pair of matinee games at the Powassan Sportsplex.

On Thursday the Voodoos host the OJHL’s Kingston Voyageurs for a 2 p.m. start and then on Friday the Rapids will visit the Sportsplex for another 2 p.m. affair.
