The Powassan Voodoos have added another veteran forward to start the 2025 portion of the season.

The Voodoos have acquired 20-year-old Anoushan Mungunthan from the Markham Royals of the Ontario Junior ‘A’ Hockey League (OJHL) for a development fee, the club announced Saturday.

The 5’11”, 185 pound forward has 0 points in 18 games this season with the Royals but last year splitting the season with Laval VC of the Quebec Junior ‘A’ Hockey League (QJHL) and Brockville in the Central Canadian Junior ‘A’ Hockey League (CCHL) he netted 13 goals and 17 assists for 30 points in 49 Junior ‘A’ games.

“I am very excited to be here,” said the Hawkesbury, Ontario product.

“I want to help this team succeed as much as I possibly can and to bring an NOJHL championship home this season.”

Mungunthan has familiarity with the Voodoos as defenceman Marcus Krats was his teammate when the two played together in Brockville.

Mungunthan, who will wear #7 for the Voodoos, is expected to join the team Saturday night in Powassan as the Voodoos host the league leading Greater Sudbury Cubs. Puck drop set for 7 p.m. at the Powassan Sportsplex.

The Voodoos start the second half with a 14-11-0-3 record and sit in 6th spot in the 12-team NOJHL.
