Victory weekend for U18 and U16 Trappers

U18 and U16 Trappers sweep weekend series' against Kapuskasing and Timmins respectively

It was a great weekend for both the U16 and U18 AAA Trappers teams as both squads came away with two home victories over the weekend. 

The U18 AAA Trappers swept their weekend series against the visiting Kapuskasing Flyers. 

On Saturday night Battalion prospect Kolton Bourret had a solid performance in goal as the U18 Trappers came away with a 5-1 win. 

Cam MacDonald led the U18 Trappers offence with two goals while singles went to Will Bourre, Riley Wolfe and William Tysick.  

On Sunday afternoon in Powassan, the U18 Trappers came away with a 7-4 win over the Flyers to close out the weekend. 

Will Bourre led the way with two goals while MacDonald, Carson Laronde, Alex Dubuc, and Tristan Perry added singles in the win.  

Lincoln Buck got the victory in goal.  

The two wins improve the U18 Trappers record to 9-9-0-2 on the season and sit in 5th spot in the Great North Midget League standings. 

Major sweep for U16 Trappers 

Meantime, the U16 AAA Trappers kept rolling with a pair of home victories at Memorial Gardens over the visiting Timmins Majors. 

The Trappers netted two shorthanded goals in a 5-2 win. 

Masen Wray had a pair of goals including a shorthanded highlight reel goal. 

Caleb Dawson had the other shorthanded tally. Jesee Lefebvre and Mason Brownlee rounded out the scoring for the U16's in the win. 

Michael Purkhart got the win in goal for the U16 Trappers.  

On Sunday the Trappers built up a 4-0 first period lead and cruised to a 5-1 win over the Majors.  

Jesse Lefebvre continued his hot scoring streak with two goals while singles went to Wray, Dawson and Brownlee.  

Kaleb Papineau did not have a lot of work but came up with some key saves when he had to as he picked up the win. 

The win allows the Trappers to move into a tie for first overall in the Great North Midget League with the Soo U18 Greyhounds as the U16 Trappers sport a 16-3-0-2 record late in the Great North Midget League season.
