U18 Trappers continue to lead the charge in the Great North U18 League

The North Bay U18 AAA Trappers continue to sit comfortably on top in the nine-team Great North U18 AAA Hockey League standings. 

The local U18 squad is coming off a pair of back-to-back 6-3 victories over the visiting Timmins Majors last weekend. 

In Saturday's 6-3 win, Martin Brassard paced the Trappers offence with a hat trick, while Noah Kozmick, Battalion prospect Cameron Lockhart and Ben Brunton added singles. 

Carson Ruddy got the win in goal, although he was replaced in the third period by Logan Coates due to injury. 

In Sunday's victory, the Trappers spread out the scoring with six different goal scorers including Brunton,  Kozmick, Tyler Brunet, Scott Szcygiel, Cohen Paquette, and Liam Starcevic. 

Logan Coates got the win in goal as he leads the league with eight wins.  

With the two home wins over Timmins, the Trappers improve to 14-2-0-0 on the season and sit comfortably nine points up on the second place Sault Ste. Marie U18 AAA Greyhounds.

Meantime, the U18 Trappers will be taking on the much improved U16 AAA Trappers in a Trappers versus Trappers clash at Memorial Gardens on Friday night. 

The U16 AAA Trappers sit in seventh spot in the league with a record of 5-7-0-0.  

The two teams are joining forces Friday night to support the North Bay Food Bank. 

On Friday night the Trappers will be collecting non-perishable food along with cash donations that will be given to the North Bay Food Bank.

Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
