U12 AAA Trappers silver at Great Lakes Cup

U12 Descon Construction Trappers finished 6-1-0 in the tournament and ultimately lost in the finals to the Chatham-Kent Cyclones.

The North Bay U12AAA Descon Construction Trappers opened the tournament with a 5-0 victory over the Huron-Perth Lakers. Colton Brunette, Liam De Jourdan, Jackson Ross, Sam Carré, and Sawyer Gedanitz scored for the Trappers. Graham Twigg recorded the shutout victory. Next, the Trappers defeated the Grey-Bruce Highlanders 8-2. Liam De Jourdan led the way with 3 goals, while Sam Carré (2), Sawyer Gedanitz, Jackson Ross, and Landon Forsyth rounded off the scoring. Next, the Trappers defeated the Cambridge Hawks 7-4. Sawyer Gedanitz and Ari Anello each scored 2 goals, while Zachael Bray, Jackson Ross, and Jacob Krajci rounded off the scoring.

In their final round robin game, the Trappers faced the Chatham- Kent Cyclones who are the 11th ranked team in the province.

The Trappers were down 2-0 until approximately 2 mins remaining in the second period when Mac Degagne scored for the Trappers. With less than a minute remaining in the second period, Sam Carré tied things up. The game remained tied until less than 10 seconds remaining when Sam Carré netted his second goal of the game to secure the 3-2 victory.

With the win, the Trappers went 4-0 and were the top ranked team (out of 12) going into the quarter finals.

The Trappers faced the Huron-Perth Lakers in the quarter finals. The Trappers were down 2-1 after two period. However, they scored 4 unanswered goals to secure a 5-2 victory and a spot in the semi-finals. Jackson Ross and Liam De Jourdan each scored 2 goals, and Tanner Walsh rounded off the scoring. The Trappers faced the Waterloo Wolves in the semi-finals and earned their spot in the championship game with a 2-1 victory. Sawyer Gedanitz and Sam Carré scored for the Trappers.

The Trappers faced the Chatham-Kent Cyclones in the finals. This game featured back-and-forth scoring with the Trappers ultimately falling to the Cyclones 4-3. Jordan Adekoya, Rylan Ringler, and Liam De Jourdan scored for the Trappers.

Overall, the team finished the tournament with an impressive 6-1-0 record, with 33 goals for, and 15 goals against. The Trappers return to play at home this weekend with 3 regular season games against the Soo Jr. Greyhounds.
