A select group of swimmers from the North Bay Y Titans swim team braved the snowy winter conditions and travelled to the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre in Brantford over the weekend to compete in the Ontario Division 2 Team Championships.
Ryan Tom swam 5 swim events in 5 personal best times and earned 5 gold medals for the team.
Steve Cholette came home with two silver medals in 100 and 200 Breast. Silver and bronze medals were earned by Megan Tom.
Katelyn Hitchcock was awarded a bronze medal.
The majority of swimmers chosen for Team Champs swam personal best times.
“It was great to see points scored from almost all age groups. Everyone did their job," said North Bay Y Titans head coach Hillar Lainevool.
The top eight swimmers in each event earn points for their respective teams. Along with the medal winners, point scorers for the Titans included: Jacob Brost, Aurora Buckley, Noelle Corazza, Sydney Hughes, Evan Kilroy, Sheldon Kilroy, Grace Liritzis, Connor Montgomery and Regine Wyss. Though it is a rebuilding year, the Titans achieved their goal of remaining in Division 2 for next year, finishing 14th out of a field of 20 teams.
