Team Winters U18 boys curling team travelled to Longlac this past week to participate in the five-day 2024 Northern Ontario U18 Provincials.

With a record of 3-2, the local rink played a semi final game where they won and advanced to the final against Team Julien, who plays out of the Horne Curling Club in Temiskaming Shores.

The game was a close one with Team Winters stealing in several ends, and taking the hammer in the 8th end.

With an amazing draw to the button that unfortunately slid about two inches too far, they took home second-place.

Team Winters is ranked #2 in Northern Ontario and will proudly wear the provincial moose to the Nationals in Ottawa in February, representing the Northern Ontario Curling Association and their home club, the North Bay Granite Club.

Team Winters U18 is made up of:

  • Skip - Riley Winters
  • Vice - Wesley Decary
  • Second - Grayson Gribbon
  • Lead - Josh Dumoulin
  • Alternate - Aidan Baxter
  • Coach - Steve Decary
