OUA Hockey: Lakers women win; men stumble into play-in game

The Lakers men will now face Laurier or Windsor in a play-in game scheduled for Sunday.

The Nipissing Lakers varsity men's team dropped its 7th straight falling 4-2 to the Lakehead Thunderwolves in Thunder Bay on Friday night. 

The loss drops the Lakers record to 10-13-2-3 as their regular season schedule ends. 

Payton Vescio and Jonathan Rees scored for the Lakers, while Zach Roy finished with 33 saves in the game.

The Lakers men will now face Laurier or Windsor in a play-in game scheduled for Sunday.

Meantime, the Nipissing Lakers varsity women's team continues to pile up wins. 

The Lakers picked up a 5-2 win over the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks tonight in Oshawa.

Katie Chomiak 2, Maggie McKee, Ashley Taciuk And Malory Dominico all scored for the Lakers, while Chantelle Sandquist made 15 saves in the win.

Nipissing is back in action Saturday afternoon, facing the Queen's Gaels in Kingston.
