OFSAA girls basketball takes over local courts

A total of 18 teams are taking part in the event.

Three local high school gymnasiums are busy this week at the OFSAA Girls AA Basketball Championships tipped off on Thursday.

The event started out with the West Ferris Trojans taking on the St. Michael Warriors from Stratford as the Trojans dropped their opener 63-28.

The Warriors build a convincing 31-12 lead at halftime over the Trojans as they cruised to victory disappointing the Trojan faithful.

A total of 18 teams are taking part in the event.

"These events are truly special and for many, rare opportunities to represent yourself, your school and your association at the highest level of school sport and frequently you only have one opportunity," said Sam Levac, local event convenor.

"At OFSAA, we take pride in these events and hope that you have the best experience possible. It is our hope that you compete at your highest level with great sportsmanship and that when finished, you can look back on this with fond memories of a truly exceptional, educational athletic experience."
