North Bay Youth Volleyball Club Lakers boys net silver

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club, Lakers 16U Boys competed at the Ontario Volleyball Association Burgarski Cup March 23rd. The one-day tournament was held in Oshawa with nine teams competing.

The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club, Lakers 16U Boys competed at the Ontario Volleyball Association Burgarski Cup March 23rd.

The one-day tournament was held in Oshawa with nine teams competing.

The Lakers finished first in their pool, winning against Northern Chill from Sudbury (25-19, 22-25, 15-13) and Durham Attack Voltage (25-20, 12-25, 15-13).  

The team then played another hometown team, the Durham Rebels Giants, winning in three sets (25-12, 20-25 and 15-11) to move on to the semifinals against Thundercats Legacy where they again took it to three sets (25-19, 16-25, 15-11) to advance to the gold medal game.

The final saw the North Bay Lakers going up against Durham Attach Voltage, in a rematch from pool play earlier in the day.  The boys remained strong and played extremely well, splitting the first two sets (23-25, 25-15).  However, the Voltage team battled point for point wining the third and final set (15-17).  North Bay 16U boys proudly wore their silver medals.
