North Bay Canoe Club at Ontario Provincial Championships

The North Bay Canoe Club attended CanoeKayak Canada’s Ontario Provincial Championships (OCUP3)  held at the Welland International Flatwater Centre on August 18-19.  A record 508 paddlers from 16 canoe clubs participated in the Championships.

A total of 5 medals were brought home by the club.  An outstanding performance was turned in by Sydney Doidge, competing in 4 competitive finals and earning 3 medals.  Doidge teamed up with Gwyneth Durocher to earn a silver medal in U15 Women's K2.  The team of Doidge and Durocher, with Avery Durocher and Grace Hong also collected a Bronze in the U15 Women's K4 final. Individual medals were also won by Sydney, Avery and Grace. 

The North Bay Canoe Club is currently 5th in the Province out of 16 clubs in the OCUP Series Excellence Award Points.  The OCUP Excellence Award measures performance in the OCUP events taking into account the number of club participants and illustrates club success regardless of size.

U15 Men's K2 - Alex Jessup/Max Hong (9th)

U15 Women's K2 - Sydney Doidge/Gwyneth Durocher (Silver)

U15 Women's K4 - Sydney Doidge/Gwyneth Durocher/Grace Hong/Avery Durocher (Bronze)

U15 Women's C4 - Sydney Doidge/Gwyneth Durocher/Grace Hong/Avery Durocher (7th) 

U14 Women's K1 - Sydney Doidge (Bronze)

U13 Women's K1 - Avery Durocher (Bronze)

U13 Women's K1 (Dev Final) - Grace Hong (Gold)

U13 Women's C1 (Dev Final) - Grace Hong (4th)

U13 Women's C2 - Grace Hong with Julia Kennedy-Petrie Island (4th)

U13 Women's K2 - Grace Hong/Avery Durocher (9th)

Max Hong continues on to the CKC National Championships August 28-September 1 in Sherbrooke Quebec, competing in the U16 age class.
