The North Bay Youth Volleyball Club Lakers 15U Girls competed at the Ontario Volleyball Association Burgarski Cup on March 2nd.
The one-day tournament was held in Pembroke with nine teams competing.
The energy was high and the girls started the morning strong finishing first in their pool, winning two sets against the Ottawa Valley Vikings Magna (25-21, 25-18) and one set against the Maverick Desperados (25-14, 16-25, 9-15).
The Lakers kept pushing and pulled out a victory at their Crossover game against the Maverick Sharks (25-14, 25-17) sending them to the semi-finals.
The semi-final proved to be a tough match against Ottawa Fusion 14U, however, the girls remained strong and won the match in a third set (27-25, 22-25, 15-10).
This sent the Lakers to the Gold Medal match against the Pumas. The team gave it their all and captured silver with a loss in the third set (25-16, 7-25, 15-17).
