For the sixth time in eight years, youth bowlers from Partners Billiards & Bowling will be competing on the national stage.

A total of 27 youth bowlers competed in the third step of the YBC National Championships (4 Steps to Stardom) tournament at the Northern Ontario Provincials on March 4 and 5 in Timmins, Ontario.

Capturing Gold Medals in their respective categories include:

  • Sadie Tremblay in the Bantam Girls Singles category
  • Dylan Grant, Cody Edmunds, Thomas Williams, Liam Smith and Coach Phil ‘Flipper’ Smith in the Senior Boys category

Capturing Silver Medals in their category:

  • Nicholas MacLean, Tyrone Woodbury, Jake McKenny, Noah Starcevic and Coach Michael MacLean in the Junior Boys category.

Capturing Bronze Medals in their category:

  •  Alexis Lamb, Shelby Gaudreau, Gilliand Widdop and Coach Remi Levasseur in the Combo Girls category.

Ten-year-old Sadie who is already in her seventh year of bowling, bowled a 180 average over five games at the Provincials and will be competing in her first YBC Nationals competition.  She will be joining her brother Liam and grandfather Phil from the Senior Boys category.

The Senior Boys who have seven National appearances among them bowled a 226 team average over four games at the Provincials. They took the lead from the first game and never looked back.

It is the first time since 1991 that a Senior Boys team from North Bay will be represented at the YBC Nationals.  Cody is in his final year of YBC bowling.   The 2016 Youth Challenge Nationals Champion will be competing in his second YBC Nationals.  Thomas Williams in just his second year at Partners after many years of bowling in Garson will be competing in his first Nationals. Dylan Grant will be competing in his fourth YBC Nationals. He would love to best his silver medal at last year’s YBC National Championships.

Liam Smith will also be competing in his 4th YBC Nationals.   It is a busy year for Liam as he is also competing for the Northern Ontario team at the Youth Challenge Nationals in March 2017.  Proud Grandpa Phil will be coaching one of his two grandkids at his second YBC Nationals as coach.

Congratulations to all the bowlers and good luck to the gold medal winners at the YBC National Championships being held May 6-8, 2017 in Gatineau, Quebec.
