Ice Boltz golden in Orillia

The North Bay BEST H2O Midget Ice Boltz recently went undefeated and captured gold in the 23rd Annual Orillia Hawks Girls' Hockey Tournament which took place over the weekend.

In the championship game the Ice Boltz defeated their northern rivals the Sudbury Lady Wolves 1-0 in a tense match that went down to the wire. Late game heroics were provided by Molly Pitkethly who snapped a quick shot past the Sudbury keeper, which was set up by some great passing from teammates Saida Wells and Jamey Couch on the game winning tally.  Ice Boltz goalie Jessica Couch recorded the shutout.

In round-robin action Friday the Ice Boltz came out with a 2-0 win against Mitchell Meteors; both goals were scored by Hannah Conrad.

The evening game had the The Boltz tying the same Lady Wolves 1-1. Saida Wells scored the tying goal.

Saturday's contests saw The Boltz pick up two more victories ensuring a berth in Sunday’s championship game. The locals dumped Ennismore 3-0, the team's scoring was provided by Jenna Couch, Kyra O’Hagan and Isabelle Champagne.

In the evening game, the squad beat the host team, Orillia Hawks, 2-1 in a heated battle with goals by Saida Wells and Abigail McDevitt.

The goaltending tandem of Jessica Couch and Emma Lindeman played superbly allowing only two goals only in five games.
