The  North Bay Ice Boltz Midget AA hockey club was called upon to play Team Atlantic in Huntsville Monday afternoon as the eastern Canada all-stars prepare for the Canadian National championships at the Under-18 age level.

In a fast paced affair the Ice Boltz started slowly and fell behind 2-0 early in the first period.

Goals by Melanie Young and Jana Headrick for North Bay tied the game at 2-2 heading into the third period.

In the final frame, two late goals by Team Atlantic sealed the game as the score ended up 4-2.

"I thought the girls played with a great deal of confidence and were not intimidated by the speed of the game," said Ice Boltz Head Coach Ray Irwin.

"They were a much older team however I thought we held our own in all three zones."

The U18 tournament, which will be held in Huntsville at the Canada Summit Centre starting November 4th,  runs through the weekend featuring some of the top female midget-aged players from across Canada.

The round-robin format has over the years featured many future Canadian Olympic hockey players including former Ice Boltz forward Maria Dominico who will suit up for Team Ontario Red at the event.

The Ice Boltz return to league action against the Leaside Wildcats on Saturday November 7th in Toronto.
