North Bay’s Colton Point is back in the NHL today and is expected to make his first ever NHL start Sunday night as the Dallas Stars take on the Colorado Avalanche in their final pre-season tune-up.
Point, was recalled from the AHL’s Texas Stars due to what the team has described as minor injuries to Ben Bishop and Anton Khudobin.
Point is in a battle with Landon Bow, who will back him up in Colorado, for the number three goaltender spot with the Dallas Stars. With Ben Bishop having a history of injuries, Point could help himself out with a good showing tonight in the mile high state.
"It's really important, and that's why it's really important that if they want the opportunity for NHL games that they seize it," Montgomery said of the battle between Bow and Point for the No. 3 goalie spot on Dallasstars.com
"One of them has to emerge, and we can't wait to see who emerges," Montgomery said.
"That's up to them to go earn it down in Austin."
Point did get into a pair of pre-season games in relief, prior to being sent down to the AHL last week.
