The North Bay Battalion will be looking for a new head trainer as the Stockton Heat of the American Hockey League, have named James Borrelli as their new head trainer for the Calgary Flames affiliate team in California.

Borrelli joined the Troops at Head Athletic Therapist in 2013 when the team moved from Brampton to North Bay.

"I'm very excited about the opportunity to move up to the AHL," stated Borrelli.

"I know it will be an adjustment, being in a professional league and moving to California, but I feel it's the right decision for my career. It's not only the player's goal to reach the NHL, it's mine as well and I'm honoured that the Flames organization is giving me that chance."

The Sault Ste. Marie native is a graduate of the University of Guelph and Sheridan College.

Borrelli had two stints with the Hamilton Bulldogs of the AHL and spent two seasons with the Canadian Football League's Toronto Argonauts.

Borrelli has worked a number of tournaments with Hockey Canada, including the Ivan Hlinka Cup last summer with the Team Canada U18 team.

It's been a busy off-season in the hockey operations side for the Battalion as assistant coach John Dean left the team in June and former Powassan Voodoos head coach Scott Wray was named as his replacement.
