The North Bay Bantam (U14) Bulldogs made the trip to face the Clarington Knights and came home with a 33-20 victory.

The Bulldogs started off the scoring with a rough inside run by Gage Campaigne after a couple of long runs to shorten the field by James Prychitko.

The Bulldogs continued to pressure the Knights, adding two more major scores before halftime to lead 20-6.

The stingy Bulldogs defence, was led by a dangerous secondary and registered interceptions by Jack Fiddler,  Evan Smetana and Rielly MacDonald. Linebackers Campaigne, Porter Hermann-McKay, and Kholton Leger-Kerr kept the Knights running game in check, only allowing one rushing touchdown all game.

The offence kept moving the ball under the direction of poised quarterback Collin Smith, who connected on some big catch and runs with Connor Lamothe and Owen Landry. Nathan Boucher scored two touchdowns on the ground while McDonald kicked three extra points.

Campaigne starred in all facets of the game, adding a second rushing touchdown and blocking a punt and two extra points to go along with his defensive efforts.

This improves the Bantam U14 team’s record to 2-1-1 on the season.

The Bantam Bulldogs are home Saturday, July 8 at 1:30 p.m. to face the Peterborough Wolverines at Father Cundari Field.
