This past weekend the Assante Midget B Ice Boltz went undefeated in the North Bay Ice Boltz Tournament.
The team used determination, heart, and character in round-robin play to defeat Nepean Wild Cats 2-0, Gloucester-Cumberland Stars 5-0, Carleton Place Cyclones 3-1 and Kapuskasing Jaguars 2-1.
This set up a rematch with a well balanced Nepean team for the final. The Ice Boltz did not disappoint with a dominant first period that saw the most of the play in their opponent’s zone. The Boltz went up 2-0 on beauty goals by Taylor Evans and Emma Caruso.
The team’s physical play made for a challenging second period as they had to kill 4 minor penalties, but the solid goaltending of Emma Lindeman kept the damage to one tally for the Wild Cats.
The Ice Boltz closed out the win with the duo of Averi Fry and Trinity Roy eating up the last minute of play with fantastic puck possession skills along the boards.
