Just to clarify, there is no requirement for patients to rinse with hydrogen peroxide. This requirement is stated in an outdated guideline that has since been changed. Also, the "hydrogen peroxide rinse" is not the classic black bottle peroxide...it is 1% hydrogen peroxide mixed into a mint flavoured mouth rinse. Patients seem to have no problem using Colgate Optic White or other "whitening toothpastes" (these do not work) that have 2% hydrogen peroxide. This headline is misleading, but regardless, dentists who follow the up to date guidelines will not ask you to rinse with hydrogen peroxide...
