The Nipissing University Eddie Band says the inaugural Small Ensemble Festival-North happens on Thursday, October 17 at Nipissing University.
The event will showcase several mixed instrumental, guitar, and vocal groups varying in age and music selection. They come from a variety of hometowns including Gravenhurst, North Bay and others.
The groups will play for the public and will receive an on-stage clinic as well. It is not a competition but an opportunity for musical development. Each group will receive a rating of gold, silver or bronze based on their performance. Each group will have two adjudicators.
Organizer, Mary Thornton, director of the Eddie Band is very pleased with the turnout for the first year and is expecting that it will grow in the future. She encourages the public to come, listen, and enjoy the festival offerings.
Admission is free and the event runs from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm at Nipissing University.
