New trees planted to honour National Tree Day

The transformation of this greenspace was amazing and the benefits these trees will give to generations of children and child care workers at the new Lindsay Weld Child Care Centre will be enjoyed for many years to come.

National Tree Day, which took place on September 25 is a day for Canadians to come together in appreciation of trees, their natural beauty and the many benefits they provide.

In honour of that day, people from Tree Canada, Sustainable Canadore, Trees for Nipissing, Eagle Tree Service, the Lindsay Weld Childcare Centre, students from the Early Childhood Education Program at Canadore and other volunteers came together to plant 28 beautiful maple trees at the new site for the Lindsay Weld Childcare Centre located in the old E.T. Carmichael elementary school building.

The trees and other supplies were funded by Tree Canada but the trees themselves came from the Trees for Nipissing Hammond St. Nursery.
