The Conseil scolaire public du Nord-Est de l'Ontario (CSPNE) has received national recognition for the quality of its communications to the school community.

The Canadian Association of Communicators in Education announced the 2019-2021 recipients at the Bravo! Awards held virtually on February 25. The Bravo! Awards recognize and honour the innovative and exemplary work of Canada's school boards in public relations, communications, marketing and engagement.

The CSPNE Communications Department received awards in two separate categories.

First, the project "Frequently Asked Questions: Back to School in a Pandemic" was honoured in the COVID-19 Communications Award category.  This new award was created to recognize the hard work that has been required since the beginning of the pandemic says a news release This CSPNE initiative involved organizing and delivering virtual workshops to explain - to families - the safe implementation of the September 2020 school reopening.  This concept was intended to reassure parents and students following the closure of schools for several months due to the pandemic.

Secondly, a Distinction Award was presented to CSPNE for excellence in the creation and maintenance of elementary and secondary school websites.  As a front-line communication tool, these platforms must be comprehensive and user-friendly.

Guylaine Scherer, Director of Communications at CSPNE says, "Students' school lives are enhanced by the collaboration that exists between home and school.  These awards confirm the importance of good communication and of putting in place effective strategies that respond to the needs and realities of schools and families."

Yves Laliberté, Director of Education, said that this national recognition demonstrates the importance of the CSPNE's multi-sectoral commitment, which is essential to the success and well-being of children and youth.

"The CACE awards highlight this positive dynamic that facilitates the achievement of our goals.  It is very reassuring to be able to count on everyone's involvement.”
