Growing the Bioeconomy – Combatting Climate Change is this year’s theme for the first Biomass North AGM and Forum. The event is focused on moving the Canadian Bioeconomy further along the value chain through knowledge sharing, technology demonstrations, workshops on policy gaps and skills development, and building strategic partnerships between industry, communities, and academia. This 3-day event will be held at the Clarion Resort Pinewood Park in beautiful North Bay, Ontario.

Climate Action Forum: is focused on showcasing how biomass will play an integral role in decarbonizing Canada’s economy. This event will cover a diverse scope of topics – from value chains to energy to innovation - while expert speakers will demonstrate how biomass can combat climate change. Gala Awards Dinner: will allow the best and most innovative sector leaders to be recognized for the excellent work they do. A Call for Nominations is currently open to nominate Canadian bioeconomy leaders in ten distinct awards categories. Award sponsorship opportunities are also available.

Research Symposium: this year’s theme is the “Triple Bottom Line”, where the scope of presentations will focus on environmental, economic and social benefits/opportunities within the broader emerging bioeconomy. A Call for Abstracts is currently open for the Research Symposium.
Trade Show: a small trade show will run concurrent with the Forum’s events. Targeted sectors include forest harvesting or processing, bioenergy or bioproduct developers, equipment manufacturing or sales, supply chain or support services, government and more. Bioeconomy Job Fair: organized in partnership with The Labour Market Group and Yes Employment Services, the Bioeconomy Job Fair is open to full-time and part-time job seekers looking to enter the workforce. Targeted sectors include forest harvesting & processing, bioenergy & bioproduct developers, equipment manufacturing & sales, supply chain & support services, and various other positions with a connection to the broader bioeconomy. Policy and Regulatory Workshop: is targeted primarily to Ontario government proponents involved in governing Ontario’s biomass development at the policy or regulatory level. With the support of expert participants, the aim is to share best practices from other jurisdictions and discuss current policy/regulatory gaps in Ontario’s biomass value chain. This invite-only workshop will be linked to the implementation of our Northern Ontario Bioeconomy Strategy.
Skills and Training Workshop: is targeted specifically to Ontario proponents involved in developing or supporting programs, curriculum, or training materials to produce the next cohort of skilled workers in Ontario’s forest bioeconomy. This invite-only workshop will be linked to the implementation of our Northern Ontario Bioeconomy Strategy.
