Less than a dozen people, led by Leeds—Grenville—Thousand Islands and Rideau Lakes MP Michael Barrett, showed up this morning at MP Anthony Rota's office demanding he "spike the hike and axe the tax."
They wanted Rota to vote to cancel the planned 23 per cent increase to the carbon tax coming up on April 1.
"The people of North Bay know that when you tax the farmer who grows the food, the driver who transports it, and the grocer who sells it, you end up taxing everyone who buys the food," says Barrett. "They also know that Justin Trudeau’s planned increase is part of his overall plan to add 23 cents a litre as he quadruples his tax over six years.
"Canadians and the good people of North Bay cannot afford this and Justin Trudeau is not worth the cost."
