Former Toronto Maple Leafs star Wendel Clark will be lacing up the skates again to play alongside and against a handful of local hockey players as part of the first annual Celebrity Hockey Classic.
The two-day event will include a Draft Party at the Davedi Club on November 30th and then the tournament itself which will take place on December 1st from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Pete Palangio arena.
Proceeds from the event will go towards Easter Seals.
“We are pleased to announce that on Friday, December 1, hockey fans in North Bay will have the opportunity to play alongside Wendel Clark and other former NHL greats in the city’s First Annual Celebrity Hockey Classic,” said Joanne Bowers, the organizer from Easter Seals Ontario.
“The tournament will feature celebrities like Ric Nattress, Mike Krushelnyski, and Gary Leeman, with more to be added as the tournament gets closer. The tournament kicks off the evening on Thursday, November 30, with an unforgettable Draft Party at the Davedi Club, where each team will select an NHL star to play on their team. Draft positions will be determined by the total dollars raised by each team.”
The tournament is seeking 6 to 10 teams with a registration fee of $1,500 per team plus a minimum of $300 per player in fundraising in order to qualify for the event.
Dylan Rivenbark, is the local Easter Seals Ambassador. Thanks to Easter Seals, the nine-year-old was able to attend Family Camp at Camp Woodeden in 2016 and 17 enjoying activities such as archery and pottery.

The event was originally set to take place last fall but was unable to take place due to a lack of registered teams.
