The COVID-19 pandemic is even impacting Santa Claus and how he can do business this year.
Northgate Shopping Centre is impacted indirectly too as the mall will not be hosting Santa visits at Centre Court at the mall located off the bypass.
Instead, the mall is offering online Santa events.
"It’s really exciting and free," stated Jordanna Grant, marketing director at Northgate Shopping Centre.
"We are hosting FaceTime with Santa every Saturday from 10-4 starting Nov 28. People simply need to bring a nonperishable food item to Guest Services to book."
Mall officials encourage those who want to book a Santa online visit, have a laptop, tablet, or phone available.
"Please be advised once appointments are booked it may not be possible to reschedule and cancellations/refunds will not apply to missed calls," added Grant.
"Please be sure you are ready for your chat with Santa 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time slot so that you are ready for his call."
