The Powassan Voodoos have acquired Ethan Seibert from the Caledonia Corvairs of the GOJHL for a development fee, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 6’2”, 190 right hand shot defenceman was a standout at the Voodoos prospects camp this weekend. He split the 2022-23 season between the Lindsay Muskies of the OJHL and finished his year with the Corvairs.

Seibert (Sigh-Bert) is a player, Voodoos head coach Peter Goulet has had his eyes on for a while.

“He looked great at camp along with the two spring tournaments he has played for us,” said Goulet.

“He is going to be a great addition and we are super excited to have him.”

The 2004 birth year defender from Ottawa says he’s honoured and excited to join the Voodoos.

“I only have good things to say about everyone I’ve met in the organization,” said Seibert.

“I believe Coach Peter and the rest of management can put together a winning team this year and I want be part of that and make an impact. I cannot wait to get started.”

Goulet sees a lot of positives in the big defenders game as he looks to replace defenders like Nick Liotino and NOJHL All-Star Mitch Wilkie, who have aged out.

“He’s got some poise with the puck, he has the ability to join the rush,” noted Goulet.

“We want D that can get up the ice and join the rush. He’s a right shot defenceman, which can be hard to find. He skates very well and we are very fortunate he wants to come and play for us.”

Seibert and the Voodoos will reassemble for the start of main training camp on August 24in Powassan.
