Tributes were held today across the province to commemorate the 75th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day.
On May 8, 1945, Canadians flooded the streets to cheer and celebrate as the Allied Forces liberated Europe from the Nazi regime.
While more than one million Canadians served during the Second World War, over 45,000 soldiers made the ultimate sacrifice.
With restrictions and social distancing measures preventing gatherings due to Covid-19, there were solitary tributes and ringing of the bells in several cities including Barrie, North Bay, Thorold, and Collingwood.
