Art on Main sports two new window exhibitions. Nancy Stephenson, watercolour and acrylic painter, and Robert Smith, brushed charcoal and watercolour painter are March’s featured artists.

Nancy’s work is a celebration of the sights and sounds of the Northeastern landscape, as represented literally in her “Woodwinds” or “Solo” watercolours, or figuratively in her whimsical “Fiddleheads” acrylic painting.

In paying tribute to the natural elements through her painting, Nancy utilizes music as a form of inspiration. Music helps to direct the flow of her work, intertwining sights and sounds to bring her vision to fruition

Nancy’s watercolour and acrylic paintings are created with archival quality materials and framed with archival-quality products. Her work is in private collections in Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.

Robert Smith’s fine art can be classified as "wildlife realism." Using a vignette style, he involves the viewer’s mind and memory. Through the use of high-realism and white space, Robert prompts the viewer to place the subjects into their own settings and experience. This can "personalize" the painting for them. The beauty and complexity of nature is a never-ending source of inspiration.

Robert’s work expresses the idyllic beauty of nature which often escapes notice in our modern technological world. By choosing to focus on aesthetics, his artwork “acts like an oasis amidst the callosity and monotony that often dominates life.”

Both exhibitions can be viewed at Art on Main through out the month of March.

Art on Main is a collective of emerging and established local artists dedicated to creating and sharing exceptional work in a variety of media. This commercial gallery is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
