Two charged with running personal watercraft too close to swimmers at Marathon beach

Numerous complaints about a couple of boaters drew OPP to North Bay's waterfront Sunday afternoon.

Police say two personal watercraft were operating carelessly and at high speed extremely close to swimmers near Marathon Beach on Lake Nipissing.

North Bay OPP found the two vessels and two people were charged.

A 28-year-old from North York was charged with operating a vessel in an unsafe manner and failure to have proof of competency on board a pleasure craft.

A 19-year-old from Scarborough was charged with operating a vessel in an unsafe manner.

Staff Sergeant Bill McMullen, says officers will be conducting regular marine patrol ensuring safe and sober boating.
