Former NHLER Darren Turcotte has stepped in to give Iseak Boucher a prize for his $400 donation to the Santa Fund.
Boucher won an auction for a prize pack including an autographed snowboard from local National Slopestyle Snowboarder Tyler Nicholson from an online auction with proceeds going to the Santa Fund.
The Nicholson family declined to hand over the board to Boucher, who is a neighbour of theirs.
Sources have told BayToday.ca there has been a well documented feud between the two Gregory Drive families.
Turcotte, the head coach of the Nipissing Lakers Varsity Women's hockey team, has offered to give Boucher a pair of autographed NHL game used sticks, plus he has offered to run a hockey practice for any team that Boucher wants.
"I don't want to make a fuss about it but I wanted to help a worthy cause," said Turcotte, who played for six NHL teams between 1988 and 2000.
"It's a tough situation but you don't donate and take something away. So if he wants some autographed game used sticks and I will run a practice for him to go towards any hockey team he wants," he added.
Boucher, who says he was going to donate the autographed snowboard to Ecole Secondaire Algonquin, is planning to give the donated practice to the Barons.
"I got a better idea. Do it for the Algonquin hockey team and that's where it's at," said Boucher Tuesday night.
"I'm ecstatic that someone came out to support me and support the Santa Fund. I'm glad there are some good athletes out there."
Commented Turcotte on the BayToday comment section, "Somebody taught me a long time ago to be humble and cherish your status as an athlete."
