Employees of Teletech gave Santa a helping hand today by delivering gifts to the Children’s Aid Society.
The gifts that were donated by the employees and will benefit children who are in the care of the Society this holiday season.
Cathy Criag, CAS Manager of Services, told Baytoday that the delivery of the gifts was not a surprise as the EPIC committee from Teletech had called a couple of months ago with the idea, but states she never imagined that the employees would be so generous.
Craig amazed by the care the committee put into wrapping and pulling the gifts together said the committee went above and beyond what was anticipated.
“Our staff first submitted 50 names of the children they identified as being in need from the families they are working with and made a list of their wishes. Then the committee called and asked for another 50 names so, there are 104 gifts with specified names plus extras.”
Epic Committee member and project leader, Mioche Haryett, explained that Teletech employees choose a child’s name from the Wish Tree went and filled the wishes and returned the gifts to a tree set up at the site.
For Haryett the day was an emotional one, fighting back tears she said she was very proud and that it was an easy decision to reach when choosing the Children’s Aid Society as the recipients for the gifts.
“The kids need it. We’re talking about families that don’t have a lot, I wish I could do more.”
Kymberly Budge another committee member said there was a great deal of spirit and dedication put into the event by all employees and committee members.
“Some employees went together as a team, pooled their money and got as much as they could, and in the end this will result in a lot of smiles. Also we gathered a teadybear for every child,” said Budge.
Craig explained that in the past the CAS has called upon the Santa Fund to help provide something to the kids for the holiday, but said the support and kindness of the Teletech employees would do more than they could have hoped for.
“Our staff is so excited they may just get out and start delivering the presents today.”
The Epic Committee also assisted Santa earlier in the week. On Thursday the team delivered learning supplies desperately needed by the North Bay Literacy Council.
