'Targeted' shooting leaves one dead in Renfrew

Police believe this is an isolated incident

Renfrew OPP is investigating a murder in Renfrew, 250 km east of North Bay.

Officers were called to a residence on Vimy Boulevard shortly before 10:30 last night where they found a victim who had sustained gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to hospital, where the coroner pronounced the person dead.

The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Police believe the victim was targeted and that this is an isolated incident.

The OPP reminds members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times and to ensure their doors and windows are locked.

Residents should expect to see an increased police presence in the area during this investigation.

The OPP is urging local residents to report any suspicious activity to the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 (or 911). 

The investigation is in its early stages and more information will be released when available say police.
