The owners of 10 Greenwood Road in Sundridge have won the holiday lighting contest three years in a row since council re-introduced it in 2021 following the COVID shutdowns. Will the owners make it four straight with this, their latest design?

Sundridge is again holding two holiday spirit contests.

The first contest involves homeowners and businesses decorating their properties for the holiday season and the second is a colouring contest for children aged four to six years.

A $75 gift card will be awarded to the best-decorated home or business while the second-place and third-place finishers will receive a $50 and $25 gift card respectively.

Residents will judge the best-decorated homes or businesses on the evening of Dec. 13. Homeowners and businesses that want their properties judged can now register their addresses with village staff. Town staff will create an online list of the property owners who are part of the contest and want residents to judge their handiwork.

Decorated properties must be in the village of Sundridge and participants must agree to allow their property to be photographed and allow the images to be shared.

The winning properties will be featured on the village’s website and social media page.

For the colouring contest, colouring sheets are available at the town hall.

The entries must be back at the town hall office by Monday, Dec. 16. Town council members will judge the colouring sheets at the Dec. 18 regular meeting.

The child with the winning entry will receive a small basket filled with holiday treats.

Each child is allowed only one entry and a parent or legal guardian has to approve the child receiving the gift basket. The parent or guardian must also agree to allow the municipality to take and share any photos taken of the winning colouring sheet and further that those photos will be featured on the village’s website and social media page.
