Frosh Leaders were able to shine a helicopter, provided by Helicopters Canada yesterday in preparation for Shine Day this coming Saturday.
Hundreds of students in bright yellow t-shirts will be spread out across 12 locations on Saturday to raise money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Nipissing University Student Union (NUSU) has been raising money for this cause over the past 21 years.
"Shine Day has become an event our students look forward to throughout Frosh Week every year. We all get to wear neon shirts, work in teams, and meet amazing community members all in the name of raising money for Cystic Fibrosis," said Sarah Carlton, Frosh and Shine Day Coordinator.
Cystic Fibrosis is the most common fatal genetic disease affecting Canadian children and young adults. It is estimated that one in every 3,600 children born in Canada has CF.

Xander Winter, NUSU VP Communications, and organizer of this year's Shine Day attended the Shinerama National Leadership Conference this past May with student leaders from across Canada.
"Attending the Shinerama National Conference really opened my eyes to what people living with CF have to deal with on a daily basis. We are so fortunate to go out into communities who support this cause and our students every year, as well as get to work with Cystic Fibrosis Canada."
