The management committee of the 2006 Cogeco North Bay Heritage Festival announced the Saturday night headline act today During the festival information update at Cementation on Graham Drive.

With over 10 million albums sold the committee was pleased to announce Collective Soul as Saturday’s feature band.

Honourary Chair Scott Clark presented the annual Daigle Award recognising volunteers for past contributions to Rita Patry, President of the 422 Wing. The wing was recognised for their support to the Air Show portion of past festivals.

Clark also announced that favourite kid’s attractions like the inflatables and petting zoo will return to the Kid’s village.

Highlight of the event was the announcement that the toughest two minutes in sports also known as the Fire-fighter’s Combat Challenge will return to the grounds.

Meanwhile a new fundraising initiative was launched.

Bailiwick a Northern Ontario manufacturer launched their Festival brand Macintosh Maple candle that will be on sale at two popular outlets Canadian Tire and Wal-Mart leading up to the Festival, however, Paxton Distributors say they are working on finding more vendors. The Candles will retail for $15 per jar.

Clark says this year is jam packed with fun for everyone.
