The province’s Special Investigations Unit confirmed this afternoon that it is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death this morning of a 43-year-old man in North Bay.

The police watchdog offered this timeline:
- At approximately 5 a.m. on February 22, officers with the North Bay Police Service responded to a residence in response to a domestic dispute.
- Upon arrival, officers became involved in an interaction with a man.
- As a result of the man going into medical distress, he was transported by ambulance to the hospital.
- At 6:21 a.m., the man was pronounced dead.
"Four investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to this incident. At this time, one subject officer and seven witness officers have been designated," says a news release.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The Unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video to the SIU website.
The SIU is an arm’s length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
