North Bay police say several people have been arrested after a standoff on Airport Road this evening (Thursday).
The police investigation, a joint effort with the OPP, has now concluded and the area is again open to the public.
"Police conducted an investigation at a residence in the 700-block of Airport Road, North Bay. Several individuals are in police custody," says a police news release.
"Additional details will be released in the coming days," it adds.
The incident occurred around 5:20 p.m.
"There will be an increased police presence in the area for the time being," advised police at the time.
Police say there was no threat to public safety but asked the public not to post live videos or pictures of the scene while officers were there.
"Posting live photos and videos of our officers can significantly increase the risk faced by them during evolving incidents and can compromise the integrity of ongoing investigations," the release continued.
In the past, police have asked the public not to show videos since it gives clues to people inside the building, where officers are located outside.
The North Bay Police Service’s Criminal Investigations Section, NBPS Street Crime Unit, NBPS Uniformed Patrol Section and NBPS Community Response Unit worked in partnership with the Ontario Provincial Police, the OPP Tactical Rescue Unit, and the OPP Emergency Response Team in this incident.
