The North Bay Santa Fund is now accepting assistance applications at the LIPI office, 127 Main Street East, until November 29.
Applicants will receive same-day answers and are asked to bring all necessary documents to streamline the process. For inquiries, call 705-472-1337.
The Santa Fund is in its 77th year and is "a testament to the generosity and holiday spirit of North Bay residents," according to a news release. The goal is $175,000, with 100 per cent of proceeds going directly to fill holiday hampers for local families in need.
The fund is facing challenges this year. In July a devastating fire at the LIPI Toy House resulted in the loss of nearly $30,000 worth of toys and food. Although insurance provided $23,000 in coverage, the depreciation meant a significant shortfall.

Jet FM and Country 90.5 are also launching their annual donation drive on December 6, 2024, focusing on individual and corporate contributions. Donations of $400—enough to fill one hamper—are especially encouraged. “Their support is invaluable,” noted Co-Chair Geoff Richardson.
The Santa Fund welcomes community-driven fundraising initiatives, from ugly sweater parties to casual Fridays at work. Every effort makes a difference in ensuring no family goes without this holiday season.

The Santa Fund, North Bay’s largest and longest-running fundraising initiative, is a Christmas tradition that embodies the holiday spirit. Every year volunteers brave the winter weather to ensure that families receive the help they need.
“Seeing the community come together year after year is truly inspiring,” said Richardson. “We can’t thank our volunteers and supporters enough for their dedication.”
