The North Bay Santa Fund collects donations to help those in need during the holiday season, and its volunteers pack baskets to be delivered to over 400 families in North Bay. This year's goal is $175,000.
Anyone wishing to donate to the Santa Fund can do so at GEM Sewing at 259 Worthington St. W., Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. between Dec. 4 and Dec. 22 or online now at santafund.ca.
The 77th Santa Fund's packing and delivery process will take place at Canadore College Commerce Court, with packing beginning at 5 p.m. on Dec. 22, and delivery beginning at 9 a.m. on Dec. 23.
The Santa Fund is the city’s largest and longest-running fundraising effort.
Each year, individuals and groups in the community come up with creative ways to support the cause. The packing and delivery of hampers is a Christmas tradition. Many volunteers brave the weather to help ensure that families don’t go without during the holidays.
LIPI will be accepting cash and toy donations. Drop off at the LIPI office or through Canada Helps. LIPI says charitable receipts will be issued for cash donations, and pick up of donations can be arranged. Any questions or concerns, please contact Amanda Smith at 705-472-1337.
