The first signs of West Nipissing changing from a local force to the OPP are starting to appear.
Beginning this Wednesday, May 1, the local police service will no longer be conducting Police Record Checks and anyone requiring one must go to the OPP detachment in North Bay, Warren or Sudbury to submit their request.
The West Nipissing Police Service, as of June 6, will cease to exist and policing responsibility is being turned over to the OPP.

"Residents of the municipality still has access to 911 and all dispatches whether for police, fire or ambulance should be made using that number in case of an emergency. After June 6, anyone requiring other forms of paperwork or information will have to attend the temporary police quarters situated at 216 John Street, Sturgeon Falls."
