A Canada Post strike Friday could impact how you get and pay your utility bills.North Bay Hydro is encouraging customers to prepare in advance.

"If a strike or lockout occurs, mail delivery to North Bay Hydro customers may be delayed. Despite possible disruptions, customers remain responsible for paying their bills on time," says the utility in a release.

To prepare for any potential postal delays, North Bay Hydro recommends enrolling in eBilling to ensure uninterrupted access to your bills and timely payment management.  By signing up for eBilling, you can receive your statements electronically and avoid reliance on physical mail during a postal service disruption.

How to Enroll in eBilling:

Visit the Hydro website and click on My Account to get started.

You can contact Customer Service for assistance between 9 a.m to 4:30 p.m. by phoning 705-474-8100 Option 2 or Email: [email protected]

Other additional payment options include

  • Pre-Authorized Payments: Automatically pay your bills on time to avoid late fees.
  • Equalized Payment Plan: Spread your payments evenly throughout the year for easier budgeting.
  • Cheque Drop-Off: For customers who prefer to pay by cheque, we offer a secure drop-off box at our main office. Avoid mailing cheques during a postal disruption to prevent delays.

"We urge all customers to take advantage of these digital and alternative payment options to ensure uninterrupted service," says the release.

The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has given 72-hour strike notice to Canada Post.

In a release early Tuesday morning, the union says workers will be in a legal strike position as of Friday if negotiated settlements have not been reached.

However, the union says its national executive board has yet to decide if a job action will happen at the deadline, saying that will depend on Canada Post's actions at the bargaining table in the coming days.
