Police are looking for a missing boater on Lake Nipissing this afternoon.
Around 1:40 p.m., a vessel in Lake Nipissing with no operator was reported to the police.
At this time a missing person investigation is ongoing in the Lavinge area of West Nipissing. and there will be a strong police presence during the search for the missing operator on the water and along the shorelines.
Any person with information regarding the missing person should immediately contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
The lake has been rough this afternoon with the wind southwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 making boating dangerous. Wind will continue this evening becoming northerly at 20 gusting to 40. Temperatures overnight will drop to plus 4.
Members from the OPP Nipissing West Detachment along with the Emergency Response Team and Sudbury OPP Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) unit have responded.
