Kirkland Lake OPP now say they are treating the deaths of two Kirkland Lake residents on July 30 as a double murder investigation.
Police were called shortly before 4:30 p.m., on Woods Street for a medical call.
Two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance and were both pronounced dead. They have been identified as, Amanda Lachapelle, 37, and Gabriel Marecki, 49.
Investigators believe this was an isolated incident and there is no immediate threat to public safety.

The investigation is being conducted by the Kirkland Lake OPP Crime Unit and OPP Forensic Identification Services, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
